Preparing Your Vehicle For Overlanding

Preparing Your Vehicle For Overlanding

Imagine the world turns inside out, the infrastructure falls apart and we are left in absolute isolation. You have bands of men hunting other men for resources and control of terrain. A lawless and hostile place where the only way to survive is winning the fight. The only asset you have are chopped vehicles and living off the grid. Staying mobile, staying light, and maintaining situational awareness. You might think I’m describing a zombie apocalypse or a natural disaster that’s destroyed most of the planet. I’m actually describing my time in Afghanistan where the Taliban and now ISIS dominate the remote and vast terrain near the Hindu Kush mountain ranges. We drove around in chopped land rovers patrolling the country side living off our rigs for weeks at a time. Over the past ten years overlanding has become one of the fastest growing genres of outdoor sports and recreation in North America. The allure of getting outside, finding remote destinations and living off your rig is just a few of the benefits. The genre of overlanding as related to our experience at FieldCraft is an easy transition, we just want to provide the tie in between overlanding and preparation. At FCS we advocate in education that preparation in mindset, training, and equipment is how you increase your survival. In Every Day Carry that’s being prepared with your Tourniquet, Light, and having the training and mindset to facilitate your survival. So it was a no brainer that we would translate that into what we call Every Day Mobility. Every Day Mobility is the extension of your Ruck Sack, the fact that everything you carry on your person can be extended and situation upgraded in your mobility platform. Whether that’s a car, truck, or SUV you have the ability to carry more and increase your chances of survival. How do you train it? How do you exercise those capabilities? By overlanding and practicing. In Special Operations we learned what works and what doesn’t, constraints on equipment, and how to build these platforms for off-roading and for fighting from. We will be bringing you everything you need to increase your overall survival game and tie it into your EDM, from medical, basic survival, navigation, off-road techniques and living in your vehicle, we look forward to the next chapter.
